For many people, their time in the bathroom is one of the most relaxing parts of their day, and a lot of time goes into choosing things like towels and bathrobes, with the aim of getting the maximum amount of comfort out of them at all times.

We often hear that Egyptian cotton is the best material (out of a wide range of options that can confuse customers when they come to buy a new towel or bathrobe) to make these types of products out of, but what makes it so comfortable and luxurious? A lot of it has to do with the thread count, which is basically the number of threads in a square inch of fabric. This is affected by the build and quality of the yarn that has been used to construct the fabric, and Egyptian cotton, which is finer than other types of cotton, can therefore be woven to create a much higher thread count and subsequently a more luxurious product.

Any thread count over 200 is getting into luxury range, but be wary of any thread counts in the high hundreds up to 1000. Other factors to consider are the location in which the cotton is actually grown (very little is actually still grown in Egypt) and the length of the fibres involved.

Softness and comfort is the name of the game when it comes to these products, and we have seen that Egyptian cotton is by far the best material to go for when making your purchase – cotton also absorbs water quickly, helping us to dry off faster. Retailers know that we know this, and they all claim to offer Egyptian cotton towels, bathrobes, bed sheets, duvets and more.

Many people use their big bathrobes and dressing gowns, which are similar garments, to provide warmth and comfort around the house whenever they’re in their pyjamas or nightclothes rather than getting dressed or only using them just after they’ve got out of the bath or shower – if you’re going to use your bathrobe this much, it’s therefore very important for it to be as comfortable as possible. Although these big bathrobes are available in many colours, white is the most common colour sold by most retailers.

Customers can choose from styles including shawl collar, adapted from the style used in men’s evening wear; kimono, adapted from the Japanese style which is more suited to warm weather than cold and hooded, which can offer another option when it comes to drying wet hair. In addition, the shape of the weave that customers choose may also be important to the overall feel of the bathrobe – waffle fabric is quite lightweight but velour is heavier and therefore warmer and cosier.

Egyptian cotton towels are usually more straightforward – and all you’ll have to do is match the colour of the towels to your bathroom, and maybe not even that if you don’t consider it important. Towels can, of course, be different sizes, so hand towels and full body towels, among others, will be available to buy. As long as you stick to Egyptian cotton when making your decision you’ll find it impossible to make a bad decision, so start the search for your perfect products now.
